The Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, Braunschweig, Germany, offers a position as a Bioinformatician / Research Software Engineer (m/f/d).
Responsibilities
- Development and maintenance of databases based on the EnteroBase platform
- Integration of databases with other resources (e.g. DSMZ Digital Diversity, European Nucleotide Archive)
- Implementation of bioinformatics analysis pipelines (e.g. for long-read sequencing data)
- Close interaction with national and international collaboration partners
Requirements
- Masters degree in computer science, natural sciences or information sciences
- Experience in object-oriented programming (preferably Python and JavaScript)
- Experience in web and database development, knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and PHP
- Knowledge of version control systems (Bitbucket) and bug trackers
- Good command of English
- Experience with Linux shell-based bioinformatics tools and genome data (a plus)
- Interest in interdisciplinary work
