About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Network Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team in Munich. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our clients' IT infrastructure, primarily within the public sector. You will work closely with a well-established team, providing technical expertise and proactive support to maintain and optimize complex network environments. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability of critical systems, supporting the digital transformation initiatives of our clients. Responsibilities
- Managing the operation, administration, and continuous development of LAN, WLAN, and WAN networks
- Handling incident and problem management processes to ensure consistent service quality, including root cause analysis
- Identifying opportunities for optimization and implementing improvements to network environments
- Proactively monitoring network components to ensure high availability and performance, troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Designing, implementing, and documenting high-availability network topologies and environments
- Implementing security measures such as port security, encryption, and authentication protocols to safeguard network assets
- Operating and maintaining firewalls and load balancers to ensure resilience, scalability, and security
- Planning and executing patch management, firmware updates, and hardware/software upgrades
- Maintaining detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and operational procedures
- Creating work instructions and knowledge base articles to facilitate team support and training
- Supporting colleagues with technical questions related to network infrastructure
- Providing direct support to clients, analyzing complex network issues, and delivering effective solutions
- Participating in network migration projects, modernization efforts, and system integrations
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in network administration
- Deep understanding of network fundamentals including LAN, VPN, VLAN, DHCP, and DNS
- Practical experience with routing and switching, familiar with protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, STP, and basic BGP
- Knowledge of network security measures, particularly firewalls and Network Access Control (NAC)
- Proficiency in monitoring and troubleshooting using industry-standard tools and techniques
- Ability to analyze network traffic with tools such as Wireshark and implement monitoring solutions
- Basic scripting and automation skills to support network configurations and processes
- Experience with wireless networks (WiFi), including setup and troubleshooting
- Basic Linux administration skills for support and operational tasks
- Preferred certifications include CCNA or equivalent
