Research Associate – Neural Networks on Neuromorphic Systems

Responsibilities
- Research, develop and optimize AI algorithms – particularly Spiking Neural Networks – as well as tools, methods and benchmarks for their design and simulation on neuromorphic hardware
- Implement robust and resilient neuromorphic system solutions for edge applications such as communication systems, autonomous systems or Industry 4.0
- Work closely with other neuromorphic computing experts and create optimal system solutions through a hardware-software co-design workflow
- Assume technical project leadership of research and development projects and guide project staff on technical matters
- Contribute to the elaboration of technical aspects of project proposals and the visibility of the Neuromorphic Computing research topic
Requirements
- Completed university degree with specialization in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence or Neuroinformatics
- Practical experience in implementing and training Spiking Neural Networks and their execution on neuromorphic hardware
- Profound programming skills in Python; advantageous: additional programming languages (C++, C#, Julia or similar)
- Ability to translate current scientific findings into applicable solutions and work in a structured manner
- Quick familiarization with new technical-scientific contexts
- Excellent English skills as well as good German skills, or willingness to learn German
- Willingness to travel to national and international events and attend team meetings at the location in Erlangen
