The newest subsidiary of the ABOUT YOU Group, SCAYLE Payments GmbH, complements the Group's portfolio of payment services. SCAYLE Payments enables the seamless integration of modern payment solutions and helps to scale customers' digital business models.

Responsibilities

• Translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions, collaborating with product managers and other engineers to ensure high-quality design, planning, and delivery.
• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs (internal and external) that power fast, reliable, and frictionless backend services.
• Apply modern agile methodologies and XP practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), pair programming, and continuous integration.
• Continuously learn and experiment - exploring new technologies, improving system reliability, and evolving our architecture for performance and maintainability.
• Contribute your ideas and take ownership - we value creativity, flat hierarchies, and quick decision-making that empowers engineers to make an impact.

Requirements

• Strong, hands-on experience with PHP (Laravel)
• Proven experience in designing and developing distributed, high-traffic / high-load backend systems.
• Solid experience with AWS services, especially Fargate/K8S, S3, SNS/SQS, RDS, and Redis.
• Deep understanding of SQL performance optimization, including efficient query design, data types, indexing strategies, and schema optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to own services end-to-end - from development and automated testing to deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Strong skills in breaking down complex technical challenges into manageable, maintainable, and easily deployable components.
• Hands-on, self-motivated, responsible, passionate and eager to learn.
• Can perform complex technical tasks independently.
• Can handle pressure in critical situations (e.g. technical emergencies) by remaining calm and finding pragmatic solutions and clearly communicating these.
• To be a multiplier of team efforts, ensuring that the results of team work are as expected and are technically sound.
• Being able to write bullet proof technical concepts based on business requirements.
