In this role, you'll work on backend services operating at massive scale, with high expectations for reliability, security, and performance. You'll join a collaborative team based in Hamburg, working closely with colleagues in the US and India, and contribute to capabilities used across Adobe products like Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, Firefly, and Express.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate Java-based cloud services, owning them from design through production
- Evolve scalable, secure, and reliable capabilities using modern cloud and distributed systems practices
- Improve system performance, resilience, and operability across multiple cloud regions
- Strengthen engineering quality through clear design, collaborative code reviews, and effective testing
- Work closely with partner teams that build on our services
What you need to succeed
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend or platform focus
- Strong Java programming skills and a solid understanding of distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience diagnosing and resolving issues in large-scale, production systems
- Strong communication skills in English (German is a plus)
- Curiosity to learn and apply new technologies, including AI-assisted development
Why you'll enjoy working with us
- Build cloud platform software that empowers everyone to create, trusted by customers around the world and designed to work reliably at global scale
- Hybrid work model – 2-3 on-site team days per week at our Hamburg office near the Fish Market, with flexibility to work from home
- Inclusive, collaborative culture – We learn together, treat mistakes as opportunities to grow, and focus on outcomes, not heroes: success is a team effort
