Introduction
We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging - but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong.
Your tasks
- Design, develop, and maintain SAP's official AI Core SDKs for Python, Java, and TypeScript.
- Drive the architecture and technical strategy for our SDKs, making key decisions to ensure they are scalable, consistent across languages, and an excellent developer experience. You'll take end-to-end responsibility for delivering high-quality features.
- Implement and advance critical SDK capabilities, such as secure access to Large Language Models (LLMs), content filtering, and document grounding and build and maintain integrations with popular AI frameworks such as LangChain, LiteLLM, and Spring AI.
- Design robust, type-safe SDK clients by generating code from OpenAPI specifications, using techniques such as code generation and shared design patterns across languages.
- Define the team's best practices for SDK design, automated testing, versioning, and maintaining backward compatibility. You will set the rules of the road that ensure our software is stable and reliable for the long term.
- Actively guide and support other engineers, contributing to a strong team culture through thoughtful code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.
- Work closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure our SDKs solve real-world problems for developers.
- Guarantee a great developer experience by working closely with stakeholders and overseeing comprehensive testing, writing clear documentation, and creating practical sample applications.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- Proven, hands-on expertise in at least one of our core languages (Python, Java, or TypeScript) and the ability to confidently work across multiple languages.
- Practical experience designing, building, and consuming modern web services, including REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and HTTP client patterns (e.g., connection management, retries, streaming).
- Proven experience with the tools and processes that power modern software, including:
- Build tools and package ecosystems (e.g., pip/PyPI, Maven, npm/pnpm).
- Continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD), automated testing strategies, and release management.
- The ability to articulate complex technical vision and decisions clearly in fluent English language skills, both in writing and verbally.
