Responsibilities
- Gather system needs, define architecture and derive subsystem requirements and acceptance criteria
- Define and architect the software foundation for simulators
- Prepare and conduct design reviews with internal and external customers
- Support validation, verification, acceptance and certification activities
- Provide architectural guidance during entire project lifecycle
- Collaborate with cross-functional and other project specific teams and experts to define the common simulator architecture
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in system engineering
- Conduct trade-off studies and evaluate optimizations, new technologies & tools
Requirements
- Bachelor or higher degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or relevant field. Masters degree preferred
- 10+ years experience in system architecture, focus on military flight training devices preferred
- Demonstrated experience across entire system engineering lifecycle for complex systems
- Strong proficiency with requirement management and system modelling tools
- Expertise in simulation- and military avionic standards and frameworks
- Strong foundation in software architecture frameworks, and software architecture principles including modularity, scalability, and maintainability
- Familiarity with modern software development methodologies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and to efficiently collaborate with customers and within cross-functional teams
