Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored to specific client requirements, with a focus on clean, maintainable and scalable code
- Architecture and development of complex WordPress solutions, including custom post types, taxonomies, REST API integrations, advanced content management workflows and more
- Customization and extension of existing WordPress installations, including theme modifications, plugin adaptations, integration of third-party services and APIs
- Performance optimization of WordPress websites, including database query optimization, caching strategies, image optimization and more
- Implementation of security best practices for WordPress, including hardening measures and vulnerability patching
- Collaboration with UX/UI designers, project managers, and backend teams to translate design concepts and business requirements into functional, responsive WordPress solutions
- Evaluation and recommendation of WordPress plugins, tools, and hosting solutions based on project requirements and scalability needs
Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development from scratch
- Strong proficiency in PHP as the foundation for all WordPress development work
- Deep understanding of the WordPress core architecture - including the Hook system, the Template Hierarchy, the WP REST API, the WordPress Coding Standards and more
- Solid experience with modern frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript/ES6+) and their integration into WordPress themes
- Experience with popular page builders (e.g. Elementor, WPBakery) and the Gutenberg Block Editor, including custom block development
- Familiarity with WooCommerce development and customization is a strong plus
- Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD workflows, and deployment strategies for WordPress projects
- Knowledge of WordPress security best practices, performance optimization techniques, and SEO fundamentals
- Strong self-organization, initiative, and a proactive way of working
