About the Role
You will be part of a highly collaborative product team working at the core of our manufacturing facility, transforming digital models into physical elements at scale.
Product Teams at GROPYUS own what they build, including underlying infrastructure, build pipelines, automated testing, release and rollout management, monitoring, and support. You will bring your experience in working with PLCs and/or other OT systems like e.g. robots, into the team.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d) on the Product Delivery team, you will be responsible for:
- Understanding and explaining the existing PLC / OT code base from our vendor to the rest of your team.
- Working together with your team and other teams in Product Delivery to evolve the current architecture into a truly Software Defined Manufacturing setup.
- Bringing an operational mindset to monitor, maintain, and improve software uptime including reliable updates, latency, and efficiency.
- Acting as a bridge between digital product delivery & physical logistics and manufacturing systems, ensuring both are aligned and integrated.
- Helping define, monitor and evolve SLAs/SLOs as well as other important KPIs like e.g. OEE for critical systems.
What you bring
- You are an experienced software / automation engineer with experience in PLC or other OT technologies.
- You are willing and excited to adopt modern software engineering approaches like code reviews, testing, CI/CD, etc.
- You have operated and supported large-scale software / OT systems.
- You have worked in companies with strong operational cultures, ideally in logistics or manufacturing – understanding the commercial impact of system downtime.
- You are proficient with most of the following technologies: PLC programming (TIA is a plus), Robot programming (KRL is a plus), OPC-UA, MQTT is a plus, Python / C++ / C# is a plus.
- You are familiar with monitoring and alerting practices for production systems.
- You have experience defining and working with SLAs/SLOs.
- You are willing to travel to our manufacturing site in Richen whenever needed and within Germany and Austria for in-person team events.
