Responsibilities
- Design features that handle enterprise traffic across regions
- Optimize critical paths for performance and reliability
- Follow patterns for code quality, testing, and readiness
- Partner with DevOps on deployments and monitoring
- Champion operational excellence in engineering decisions
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience building backend systems that thrived in production traffic
- Intimate knowledge of PHP (modern practices, not legacy code)
- Understanding of practical trade-offs between consistency, availability, and partition tolerance
- Experience optimizing databases and debugging race conditions under high load
- Ability to make architectural decisions that don't require complete rewrites
- Systems-thinking mindset, not just ticket-based work
- Strong focus on reliability, performance, and ownership
