Job Summary
NetApp is seeking an experienced Director, Legal to serve as the senior legal business partner for our Go-to-Market, Public Cloud, Marketing, and Customer Success organizations. In this role, you will provide strategic, business-oriented legal guidance that enables growth while managing risk across a global, partner-driven, cloud-enabled technology business.
This role reports to the Vice President, Field Legal and includes people leadership responsibility for a team of four U.S.-based attorneys. You will work closely with senior leaders across Sales, Partners, Marketing, Customer Support, Professional Services, Finance, Deal Desk, and other cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Act as the lead legal advisor to NetApp's GROE (GTM Strategy, Revenue, Offers & Enablement) organization
- Advise on legal and risk considerations for global sales motions, offers, incentives, pricing initiatives, and enablement programs
- Provide legal guidance for public cloud and consumption-based offerings
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including cloud services, managed services, software, professional services, and related technology transactions
- Review and advise on marketing and communications initiatives, including public-facing content, campaigns, analyst briefings, press releases, and brand partnerships
- Provide legal support for NetApp's Customer Success organization, with a focus on customer support and professional services
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of four attorneys
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- 12+ years of legal experience, including substantial in-house experience at a technology company
- Deep experience with commercial, cloud, SaaS, and services-related technology transactions
- Demonstrated success leading and developing legal professionals
- Strong business judgment, executive presence, and ability to translate legal risk into practical, actionable guidance
- Experience supporting global, partner-driven go-to-market models strongly preferred
